Hello everyone,

On February 25, 2008, I received a call that turned my life upside down: "Your husband has collapsed at work." As I waited for updates or transportation to the hospital to see Stephen, a police officer came to my door with life-altering news, "I'm sorry, but your husband has passed away." 

Stephen's death was considered suspicious due to his seemingly healthy, 34-year-old heart suddenly stopping. After some questioning, I was finally able to drive to the hospital to say my final goodbye. 

This fundraiser is in memory of Stephen, who passed away from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. It aims to raise awareness and support the Heart Foundation's battle against all forms of heart disease. I lost a husband and a father who never got to see his sons grow up, and my hope is to help others live longer lives through increased awareness.

Support my challenge to save Kiwi hearts

This May, I’m taking part in MyMarathon to raise funds for heart research that will help save lives.

Every 90 minutes, a person dies of heart disease. It's the single biggest killer in New Zealand, and I want to do something to support the thousands of Kiwis whose lives are impacted by this disease every single day.
