2025 MyMarathon Challenge Completed

Well that's a wrap from us.  I managed to get my last two swims in to complete 44km, Kev reached his 100k target and George went for a run today (21k) which took his total to 132k.
Team McAleer is very grateful for all the donations and support from our friends, family and community.
Hopefully we have made an impactful contribution to heart research here in NZ.

Final stretch

I can honestly say I'm knackered!! Last week I clocked up 13.5km across 4 swims.  My sinuses are stuffed and my CRPS is antsy.
While I've reached 43km that include 2 short walks so I'm hoping to get 2 more swims in this week.
George has surpassed his goal of 100km running (111k so far) and Kev has hit 91km with five days to go.
Thank you to everyone who has donated and nudged us along! We are truly grateful and privileged to support heart research in NZ.

Halfway update

Team McAleer is on track reaching and surpassing halfway milestones in the kilometres. George is going particularly well with his running. It has been wonderful to see him flourish in his health and confidence.
I had a 4K swim session yesterday. A bigger swim for me … Nana nap this afternoon after work for a couple of hours 🤪
Check out The Courier this week to read George’s journey and his commitment to giving back to heart research.

Early Mother’s Day Walk

Earlier this week I stopped the last of my slow release morphine medication. I haven’t swum since Tuesday as I’ve struggled a little with withdrawal symptoms. Today was a lovely day to venture out for a walk with my son George and Kev. I’ll be back in the pool tomorrow 🏊‍♀️🏊‍♀️

Hanmer Springs

A great weekend away achieving kilometres towards our MyMarathon team challenge.
Kev Mac ticked ✅ the Half Marathon and I got a sneaky 2km swim done before enjoying the hot pools.
Our son George is clocking up the km’s towards his 100km goal. Great motivation when the cause is greater than thy self.
Thanks to our sponsors we are more than halfway towards our fundraising target.

First km logged

I have started my swim challenge yesterday 30/4 (substitute for my normal Friday swim). 5km logged.
George has also started with a 6km run tonight.
Kev has the Hanmer Half this weekend.
We are very grateful for your support of heart research.

Support my challenge to save Kiwi hearts

This May, I’m taking part in MyMarathon to raise funds for heart research that will help save lives.

Every 90 minutes, a person dies of heart disease. It's the single biggest killer in New Zealand, and I want to do something to support the thousands of Kiwis whose lives are impacted by this disease every single day.

Please make a donation to support my challenge and help save Kiwi hearts.

Together, we can win the race against heart disease.

Thank you!
