Heart health is not just personal—it's generational. Let us honour those we’ve lost by protecting our own hearts and helping others do the same.
This May, I took on MyMarathon to raise funds for life-saving heart research—in memory of my uncle, Arthur Gabriel.
Arthur (Sleek) was a truly special man. We shared a close bond and a great sense of humour. Although he passed away in 1999, his presence has stayed with me ever since—and whenever I remember his smile, I feel comforted and close to him again.
My original goal was to jog 42 km over the month. But once I hit that milestone, I kept going… and going. I’ve now reached 84 km, and my final target is 126 km—that’s three very slow marathons!
Every 90 minutes, a Kiwi loses their life to heart disease. By supporting this cause, we can help change that through better research, prevention, and care.
