Supporting Heart Foundation For My Dad

This May, I'm taking on 42km (or more!) in MyMarathon to support the heart foundation. I'm doing this to help fund life-saving heart research and give more families more time with the people they love.

In November 2023, my Dad Marty suffered a sudden cardiac arrest in our home and was incredibly lucky to have survived with the hard work from my family, the emergency responders, and the staff of the ICU and Cardiology wards at Wellington Hospital. This event was life-changing for our family, and we are extremely privileged to have him here with us today, which is not usually the outcome for cardiac arrests suffered in the community. Every 90 minutes a New Zealander dies from heart disease - it is tragically the leading cause of death in our country.

While I am dedicating my efforts with this marathon to my Dad, I would also like to add an additional dedication to Jax Adam, Mum of my close friend Holly McDonald, who passed suddenly from undiagnosed heart disease in 2024. I will be thinking of you both with every step.
