The ideal finish

My 89km walk was finished on Sunday, assisting me to the finish line were my two youngest granddaughters.
Loved it.

Reflection and Completion

Q. Why am I doing this?
A. 3 reasons - To honour my Mums time with us. To go some way toward repaying the Cardiac Community. To improve my personal Heart Health.
Q. Will I do this again?
A. As long as my body allows me to, YES.
Q. Why did I choose The Heart Foundation to support ?
A. Cardiac arrest resulting in two stenting procedures (5 stents) and a quadruple bypass operation, it seemed like the best way I could do something to raise awareness around Individual Heart Healthcare.
Q. Anything else to say ?
A. A massive shout out of thanks to Friends and Family for financial support and encouragement during this venture - Andy M, Rosie W, Gary P, Linda W, Zadie & Keira 💜🧡 and Jen ❤️

Tomorrow's the Day

Just 4kms to go and massive Thanks to my Li'l Sista, Jen ive only $140 to make my fundraising Goal. I've committed to two of these MyMarathon Events but this is my 5th fundraiser for The Heart Foundation NZ, it's how I give back after my heart surgery

8km to go

If you've been waiting for me to complete the distance, I am so close now it's as good as done.  Another bit of a walk today and then the last walk tomorrow morning.                      If there's a lonely $10 sitting in your bank account, how about donating it? Thank you 😊

76/89ths

76 of the 89kms I set for myself have been completed!!   I can feel the end of this adventure.

Still broken, after all these years 🤣

Only parts of me are actually still broken 🙃 but some broken parts have been repaired too. So, while I still can move, I'll keep walking, staying as healthy as I can. My 89km Goal is well and truly in sight and I'm counting down the last few days

When children speak

How great is it when you completely unexpectedly receive a donation from children? My youngest Granddaughters are happy to support such a great charity as The Heart Foundation NZ and that makes me feel great about what I'm doing.

6km/$55 per day average needed.

30km to go, 5 days left, sounds like 6km each of those 5 days will do the trick - BUT WAIT - I'm still quite a bit shy of my $470 goal

Getting closer

My Goal = 89km/$470. Why 89km? Thats just 1km for each year of my Mums time with us. Why $470? Seems like a good usable amount to me. I will make the distance, thats entirely up to me & if hands and knees need to be involved, so be it. Massive thanks to Andy Mears, Rosie Whitham,  Gary Passmore and Linda Williams for donating - if you're reading this,  can you help save a life?

Behind the eight ball

Circumstances and pain have kind of set me back a bit. I'm behind on my kms - only just reached the halfway point and I have only gotten about 1/3 of the donations I was hoping for.
I'll put the legwork in now to reach my 89km goal, so I hope some people can come in with $10 or $20 to shuffle that side along

Keep it going

Having a bit of a struggle at present with a couple of niggles, but I'll keep going, or rather get going again shortly. Pain can be very disruptive but it can also be a motivator.

Part way there

I've now clocked up my first half marathon distance and have reached the 1/4 way mark for kms.
Really hoping we (you and me) can combine efforts to make some change

A late start is bettrr than no start

First up, I want to acknowledge two very special people that have supported every fundraiser I've done in the last 10 years - THANK YOU so much for your generosity and encouragement Andy Mears and Rosie Whitham, you absolutely ROCK.
So I got my first walk in today, ot hurt as much as I expected - I've suffered from massive pain in my shins and calves since my bypass op & removal of femoral vein to make the op a success.

Late Starter

A couple of minor medical malfunctions have delayed the physical start to my 89km journey,  that won't continue as it appears to have been cleared up.
This week will see me begin the legwork to kilometre 89, watch this space
