Day 8

Day 8: 3.6km added in for the mymarathon Heart Foundation fundraiser, helping fund, research, equipment, awareness and support for those who suffer heart disease in NZ. This being one close to my heart, setting out to give it my best and not knowing if I will make it to the mark but to give it a damn good go, to now only 5km short of that 42km in just over a week after my own battles following surgery last year. So flipping proud. Absolutely eager to carry this on and raise as much and get in as many kms possible by the end of the month all for an amazing cause. Today the struggle was real but me and v dog got on and got a few kms in at a good pace pushing through. I am so very thankful to all of you for your amazing donations and words of encouragement to make it this far, and to carry on. Tomorrow, I am planning a very special walk to finish off this first 42km, in whom I am doing this in memory of. If you know you know. I know Dad would have been my number 1 supporter and doing it with me, and each fantail that joins me on this walk I know who's sending them. 🥰

Day 6

7.2 km logged today whoop whoop. This is the furthest I've walked in a year and at a good pace too! Today's venture had me flying solo without v dog as i walked the Carters Beach side of the Kawatiri Coastal Trail. I absolutely love this walk and into the native wetlands, along the river. A lot of fantails joining me along the way, inspiring me to keep going. I really enjoyed today, even with the technical issues of my phone stopping recording the walk 🙄, ripping me off steps but it was not enough to put me off, I used photo evidence instead 🤣. The kms are stacking up and bloody happy for it. Thank you to all, for the wonderful donations so far and words of encouragement. I really appreciate you all, and those people and families or friends who in future may require the help through heart disease will also.

Day 4 was rest day, Day 5

Day 5, and motivation was lacking as the body was not feeling the vibe for the 1st kms. But the sunshine beaming on the face and my inspiration to push through and get the kms in payed off. 6.12km logged. The beautiful Kawatiri Millennial track was our route today, and just seeing that sun reflecting on the river, mountains in the background made it all worth while. If dad could run an easy 10km then I can at least get in a 5, and hopefully into 10km by the end of this challenge. Another day logged and proud of it, thank you so much to my awesome sponsors and all the wonderful words of encouragement, I hear it and you inspire me to keep getting it. Over half way with my donations, Thanks you xx

Day 3

3.6km on the graph today. The kms weren't up there but worked on pace, needed to reign it in a little so the body can continue 🤣. Such a beautiful day and place to be alone with my mate v dawg, my thoughts, mother nature and appreciation for what I have in life and who.  Thank you for the love and support, my wonderful cheerleaders, and sponsors. I appreciate you all. Xxx

Day 2

6.2km on the charts today. Definitely had company encouraging me today. The furthest I have managed to walk in a year without fatigue hitting my leg and a backwards step in recovery. But today the Westport sunshine was just calling to say stay and enjoy this for that bit longer. Absolutely loving getting out there, hitting the pavement and supporting this cause. Thank you to my sponsors so far, your words of encouragement have really made me smile and push some more to really help others. Xx

Day 1

Out there today getting it done with me mate v dog. First 4.58 km logged. A hard slog after the neurological challenge from spinal surgery last year., but this is also encouraging me to push forward. A few fantail visitors along the way reminding me who I'm doing this for and to keep going. Lovely to walk parallel to dad's tree and yell out a hi.  The challenge is set and I'm doing it.

Support my challenge to save Kiwi hearts.

This May, I’m taking part in MyMarathon to raise funds for heart research that will help save lives.

This is dear to my heart having lost an amazing father/hero to heart disease. If I can do my bit to help save someone else's role model, hero, loved one, then I'm here for it.

Every 90 minutes, a person dies of heart disease. It's the single biggest killer in New Zealand, and I want to do something to support the thousands of Kiwis whose lives are impacted by this disease every single day.

Please make a donation to support my challenge and help save Kiwi hearts.

Together, we can win the race against heart disease.

Thank you!
