Support my challenge to save Kiwi hearts

When I was 21, I was hospitalised for almost two months because of endocarditis - a bacterial inflammation of my mitral valve that came on very suddenly, and posed a real threat to my life.

Not only did it damage my valve to the point it needed to be replaced with a mechanical one, but it also caused a brain abscess. Fortunately, both my conditions were able to be treated, and I’m incredibly grateful for the medical care and research that made my recovery possible. However, I need to take blood thinners every day for the rest of my life which also comes with its own set of challenges to manage.

This May, I’m joining MyMarathon to combine my passion for running with the opportunity to fundraise for heart health here in New Zealand. This is a cause I am very close to, and very proud to be supporting.
